We’re seeing red, white, and blue everywhere we go, and Tinker has been especially fascinated with learning how to make stars. One afternoon I set up a simple process art activity to help her practice making her own stars before diving in to create her own red white and blue masterpiece for the Fourth of July.

Create Your Own Process Art
We started by working together to make stars. I modeled adding one piece of patriotic washi tape at a time, and Tinker mimicked my steps to create her own stars. Then she made a few on her own.
When she was done she started experimenting with the different brushes in our paint brush set. She created long brush strokes, dots, and even some fireworks.
Then it was time to add some sparkle. She squeezed strands of silver glitter glue all over her painting.
Then she used a paint brush to spread it out and make the whole creation sparkly.
As she mixed and mixed she noticed that the red and blue were mixing together to make bits of purple, too. She decided to stop there and put her art on display.
